As we are sure you are aware, today is Midsummer’s day. Two British counties celebrate this as their county day today, Suffolk and Shetland. Suffolk, because it is the first place in the UK to see the rising sun in the East. Shetland, because it is the longest day, which is important when you are so far north.

We would like to wish many happy returns to all our friends in both counties. Have a good one guys!

We would like to say Happy Kent Day to all our friends in the other Garden of England. Today is the feast day of St. Augustine, the patron saint of Kent, and therefore also the celebration day of the county on the south eastern tip of England.

Happy St. George’s Day

We’d like to wish everyone in England and all the English around the world a very happy St George’s day today.

Here is a quick Shakespeare quotation that will no doubt be over used today, but none the less is still rousing to the English:

This royal throne of kings, this sceptered isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea.

William Shakespeare
